[Cuis-dev] A couple of issues (I believe) related to recent refactoring changes...

Hmm... it just happened about an hour ago but now in a fresh image it's not
doing it.  I might have just refactored a method or two before it happened
so I probably need to fiddle with it a bit to get to a repro case.
