I think you mentioned this annoyance before. It seems that what we are
doing is actually atypical. Most GUIs seem to handle this by 1) just
clipping/truncating the title, or 2) replacing part of the text with
ellipsis (…), either at the start, middle (common for paths), or end.
Also, they use tooltip/hover text to show the full title, just as you
suggested (but not when the text fits, only when it was shortened).
