[Cuis-dev] Is anyone working on Morphic-free Cuis?

Thanks for reaching out, Luciano!
It’s not that I simply don’t like Morphic (though Wrapper MVC as in VisualWorks is the best-engineered GUI framework in any Smalltalk), I’m looking for a modern GUI framework that also supports several back-ends such as low-level vector graphics libraries.
I’ll stop my whining and get back to porting…

Many years ago in Squeak I had morphs with thousands of submorphs and it worked fine, I made a 3D earth with submorphs for airplanes, earthquakes, volcanos, etc, with real-time data I retrieved from the web… I had to use quadtrees to make it fast tho, but it was not hard.

This makes it hell on the garbage collector for complex UIs (like music notation) where you might have thousands of display objects on the screen, and want to scroll or page quickly.

Pharo is way bloated, though, which is why I was hoping somebody was porting Sparta/Block/Brick to Cuis...
