Thankfully projects like the Internet Archive are doing the important
thing of fighting that inevitability, pushing it as far back in time
as they can. Nonetheless, the point is well-taken. When I saw earlier
parts of this conversation I started to think about distributed
content-addressed storage like IPFS or SSB's blob layer. This seems
like the time to bring it up.

This is very true, though as of late I've been reckoning with the fact
that my email is all hosted and indexed by Google. The last few years
have involved a pruning of content sources and increased use of
mailing lists and newsletters which leave a permanent personal record
in my inbox, and that's felt good. But I'm not so sure that I really
control that record until I host or backup this account. But that's
more of a personal problem, not anything which is inherent to the
medium...
Jacob.
